Our Pick: Barrel & Bushel (Tysons)

Sometimes a foodie just wants it all, amiright? Feasting your way through the day and living your best brunch life is what we do best and Barrel & Bushel’s brunch menu ticks all our boxes. Their share plates mix it up with southern comfort food like Frito pie and more high brow items like poutine. But the real shining stars of their brunch menu is their Favorites section, which include Double Chocolate French toast, and Hot Fried Chicken Benedict. Bust out the stretchy pants for this epic brunch, you’re gonna need ’em.

Our Pick: Bonnie Blue (Winchester)

Are you a brunch browser? You know what we’re talking about–after a full belly of delicious brunch you can be persuaded to take home a few pounds of bbq, a fresh baked pie, and some local beers for later? Then Bonnie Blue Market and Bakery is the place for you. This Winchester eatery has been filling bellies since they opened in 2012. Their brunch menu is stacked with homestyle classics like biscuits and gravy, french toast, and omelettes. They also have a variety of yummy baked goods, local treats, beer, wine and to-go servings of their famous barbecue. Yeah, you and your friends will probably have to take separate cars so you have enough room for all of the market goodies, but TRUST us. It’s worth it.

Brunch on a Dime

Our Pick: Scratch Biscuit Company (Roanoke)

If you love Virginia, then you love a good biscuit. The two go hand in hand, and Scratch Biscuit Company in Roanoke are biscuit experts. Their biscuits are (1.) delicious and (2.) start at the low low price of $2.60. Scratch Biscuit has over 25 biscuit varieties to choose from, so you can go nuts and not break the bank. Their biscuit menu ranges from the no-nonsense, like ham and sausage, to the more distinctive, like the “Cowboy Crippler” which features brisket, country-fried sausage, pulled pork, hashbrown, and cheese. This gem of southern cuisine also has a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan options, in addition to a bangin’ assortment of sides. So go on and clear out that change in your couch cushions, we’ve got brunch to eat!

Our Pick: Farm Bell Kitchen (Charlottesville)

Any true brunch fiend knows there’s nothing better than the humble egg. You can dress it up in a multitude of ways, and it’s still just as yummy as ever. That’s why our pick for Eggcelent Brunch goes to Farm Bell Kitchen in Charlottesville. They’ve got all the egg dishes you could ever wish for including several varieties of Eggs Benedict, including a (drumroll, please) Lobster Benedict. This exquisite egg creation features decadent lobster meat, asparagus, and a poached egg on a johnny cake. Their eggs come from local farms in the area, so eating here is a win-win.

Bakery Brunch

Our Pick: Sub Rosa Bakery (Richmond)

Much like Oprah herself, we LOVE bread, and Sub Rosa’s wood fired breads and pastries are a slice above the rest. Their selection of pastries are sure to satisfy any carb lover with options like salami and cheese croissants, pain au chocolat, and seasonal savory tarts. Not only does Sub Rosa use organic fruits and veggies grown right here on Virginian soil, but they grind their wheat, corn, and rye in-house. If you’re planning on hosting your own brunch get-together, you don’t have to miss out because they also do special orders.

Boozy Brunch

Images: Bar Solita

Our Pick: Bar Solita (Richmond)

Two words: Flamingo Brunch. Bar Solita is doing the dang thing when it comes to enjoying a fine alcoholic beverage or two. So if you’re the type of person that wants some brunch to go with that drink, then we highly suggest going to Bar Solita. Their Flamingo Brunch has tons of yummy food options like Harissa Smoked wings, a Mexican Chocolate parfait, and Breakfast Empanadas, but the real star of the show is the drink menu. Your options include “a big ole’ bottle” of prosecco, Mimosa flights, and (!!!) Bloody Mary Cart Service. Ya welcome.

Coffee Brunch

Our Pick: Cafein (Chantilly)

On the list of things we can’t live without, the first entry would be coffee. The feeling that you get when you take that first sip of coffee just cannot be beat. That’s why we love Cafein in Chantilly. They take the quality of their coffee seriously, and it’s seriously delicious. On the flip side, their whimsical latte art and grammable ombre iced beverages inject some humor into their menu and keep us coming back for more. They have a wide variety of breakfast sandwiches, but most importantly–they make their own cream puffs, y’all! These scrumptious puffs are the perfect brunch dessert… That’s a thing, right?

By now, you’ve probably realized that we are obsessed with brunch. All. The. Brunch. So if you’re a brunch lover like us and you’re near one of these brunch beauties, give them a visit! And if you’re not, did somebody say road trip?
